Important Play-In Tournament Rules / Procedures:
Please remember to review proper behavior (sportsmanship) with all your
players, coaches and fans. This is an official American Legion Event and
all participants should act accordingly.
All Zone Chairman should call the State Director immediately after all of
these games with the results.
1) Home (host) teams need to secure their fields for a 3:30PM game
on Friday and Noon on both Saturday and Sunday, call your Zone
Chairman with field location, then call the opposing team to give
them directions. In some limited circumstances, the State
Director may allow the start times for these games to be up to
1 hour different if the other team agrees.
2) Higher seeded teams that can't get their home field or a suitable
replacement, approved by the State Director, will be forced to go
on the road - they will still be the home team (i.e. bat last)
3) Host team is responsible to immediately work with their assignors
to schedule umpires. Umpire rate is the regular season 7 inning rate.
Each team is responsible for paying for one of the two umpires.
4) Each team must supply 6 new game balls, host team is responsbile
if more than 12 are needed.
5) Zone Chairman, or his designee, will be onsite and in charge of these
games. State Director will have to be called if there are any protests.
6) All games are 7 innings.
7) Please review the National 10 Run Rule, which applies throughout
our tournament, inclduign the Play-Ins.
8) If games are rained out or otherwise not completed, teams may be
required to play two games the following day, starting at 11AM
on the weekends and 1:30PM on weekdays. Home team for the
next game would be required to host (i.e. provide the field) for the
completion of required prior game.
9) Teams are responsbile for making sure that all their players are
eligible, have met all our rules, including the revised (for 2010
season) Dual Participation (20%) Rule and the Senior Game Rule
(can't play more in more than 50% of Zone games and can't pitch
in more than 20 zone innings).
10) The 8 winners (survivors) of the Play-In Tournament will advance
to the Final 8 State Tournament in Windsor Locks beginning on
Wednesday, July 28th. Their coaches must attend a Tournament
Meeting on Monday, July 26th in Windsor Locks - more information
