Re: State Tournament Meeting, Friday, July 23 @ 6:00 PM
Congratulations on making it to the Final 16! All remaining Tournament participants must attend a mandatory pre-tournament meeting at Fussenich Park in Torrington (armory adjacent to the field) on Friday, July 23 (see directions below).
You must be at the meeting to compete in this year’s tournament! Purpose of the meeting is to check team documentation and review the entire tournament process. The tournament informational meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 PM. Refreshments will be served.
To expedite the checking process I would like you to report at the following times: 6:00 PM (the four Play In Teams that win the games involving Avon, Bethel, West Hartford & Windsor Locks); 6:15 PM (the four Play In Teams that win the games involving Greenwich, Guilford, Milford & Niantic); 6:30 PM (Bristol, Cheshire, East Hartford & New London); 6:45 PM (Branford, Norwalk, Oakville & RCP).
Please bring:
(1) Form 1 (team roster)
(2) Form 2’s (individual player forms)
(3) Original birth certificates for every player
See Page 8, Rule 2E in the 2010 National American Legion Baseball Rule Book – In part it says “ Records of birth must be an original or a certified document from the State Bureau of Vital Statistics or Department of Health or other governmental agencies authorized to certify birth documents” note: hospital copies, baptismal certificates or notarized copies are not acceptable
(4) 1 glossy (color) team photographs (5X7)---with identification on separate sheet. Please don’t write on back of pictures.
If you are missing birth certificates, refer to page 38 in the 2009 American Legion Rule Book for a list of contacts where the birth certificates can be obtained.
Please be aware that in the State Legion Tournament the National Rule Book explicitly states “The American Legion Insignia must be worn on the left sleeve or left chest of the uniform shirt. Penalty for not complying is that “any player, coach or manager who violates this rule will be removed from the game.” Contact National Emblem Sales at 1-888-for-legion for patches.
Please call me ASAP at 860-670-5224 with any questions. Tournament schedule will be on our web site www.ctalbb.com. Finally, please note that any player or coach ejected from your last game (regular season game, play-in tournament or exhibition) must sit out the first two games of the tournament.
