Frequently Asked Questions (as of 4/26/12)
1. What town or team will I play for?

2. Where can I find the contact information for my team?

3. What are the age limits for American Legion Baseball?
You must have been born on or after January 1st, 1995 to be eligable for the 17 & Under Jr Legion team or born on or after January 1st, 1993 for the 19 & Under Sr Legion team.
4. How do waivers (previously releases) work?
While American Legion Baseball believes very strongly in young men playing for the teams where at least one of their parents or legal guardians live, waivers are available on a limited basis to expand their opportunities to play in our program. Where applicable, these rules apply to both junior and senior legion teams.
If you try out (make yourself fully available) for the team in the town where your parents live, are not picked for the team and are in your last two years of eligibility (born in 1993 & 1994), than you must be granted your waiver - which allows you to try to play for another team. All waivers are just for one year. At the end of the season, the player returns to the original team he belongs to based upon his parent's address. Teams have the option to waive players not in their final two years of eligibility, who again, are not able to make their teams. No players playing in the year after the year in which they graduated from high school are eligible to be waived.
You should contact your Zone Chairman (they are listed on this website) for their assistance in the process. Basically using MapQuest (shortest driving distance) you determine the next nearest team (using your home address and the address of the team's town hall) - all these town hall addresses are on this website. You would contact that team, if not selected, you would then contact the next nearest team. If you were not selected for that 3rd team (original town you belong to and two additional chances), you would not be able to play American Legion Baseball this summer.

6. How is a player ineligible to play in the Junior & Senior State Tournaments?
Per National Rules, once our State Tournament has started (which includes any game after the regular season ends - i.e. our current Play-In Tournament), any player that misses one of these games to participate in any non-approved (per National Rules) baseball activity will be ineligible for the rest of the State, Regional and World Series Games. Any team playing one of these ineligible players will, at a minimum, forfeit that game for using an ineligible player.
