Important Rules Changes for the 2012 Season
1. Non-high school students (i.e. college freshmen) are not eligible
to play unless they were on a legion roster last season (unless an
injury made them unable to play baseball)
2. All waivers (formerly releases) are now just for one year. Both
Junior and Senior Players are eligible for waivers. Non-high school
students are not eligible to get a waiver.
3. A double rostered player becomes ineligible to play in either a
Junior Legion Regular Season or Junior Legion State / Regional
Tournament game when they either pitch more than 20 senior
zone game innings or play in more than 50% of their senior zone
games (i.e. play in the field, pitch, bat pinch run, etc...).
4. Any team that has any combination of more than 4 players, coaches
or team officials kicked out of a game during the same regular season
that team may be made ineligible for participating in that season's
State Tournament by the State Committee.
5. Only the head coach (or his assistant, designated before the game with
the right to replace him), will be allowed to leave his normal position
to argue any calls or decisions made by the umpires.
6. To qualify for the State Tournament, teams must be 3 games over
.500 instead of just 2 games.
7. No team will be required to have games scheduled on more than 6 days
in a row or be scheduled to play more than 1 doubleheader in that 6 day
period.
Please note that per National Rules, once our State Tournament has started (which includes
any game after the regular season ends – i.e. our current Play-In Tournament), any player
that misses one of these games to participate in any non-approved (per National Rules)
baseball activity will be ineligible for the rest of the State, Regional and World Series
Games. Any team playing one of these ineligible players will, at a minimum, forfeit that
game for using an ineligible player.
